Teqball debuts at the European Games and Kraków - with the experience of the World Series from last year – is set to host the sport’s first continental championships.

On the day before the matches of Teqball start in the Main Square of Krakow, FITEQ together with the LOC of the European Games 2023 Kraków-Malopolska held a press conference where the participants released that the first continental confederation of Teqball’s governing body is about to be established and the results of the official draw.

Janusz Koziol, Vice President of the 3rd EG highlighted that it was important for the Organising Committee to preserve every little detail of Krakow’s UNESCO World Heritage site, while they are able to show the city’s beauty.

“Next to the Old Market we have prepared everything for one of the best Teqball events ever. We finished our job well, and now it is time for the athletes to show why this sport is so amazing and one of the fastest-growing ones.

Laszlo Vajda, Secretary General of FITEQ

Secretary General, Laszlo Vajda praised the European Olympic Committee. “Our dream came true as we are here in Kraków, at the European Games. The teqers are very energized to be here and represent their countries at Teqball’s very first European championships. After the African Beach Games, the EG2023 means, we are one step closer to the Olympic Games.

Teqball in Poland is huge. The national federation already organised a world championships two years ago, then a World Series event last year in Krakow. Krzysztof Ochędalski, Vice President of PZTEQ spoke about the sport’s future in Land of Fields: “We will soon start the very first professional Teqball league and with the help of FITEQ, I am very positive that the next level is close, right ahead of us.”

The official draw of the European Games also took place at the press conference. Lea Vasas, two-time world champion highlighted the importance of the European championships. “After the titles at the WCH, I aim to get the trophy or trophies in Krakow. I am in good shape, thus I only have to concentrate on my game.”

Adrian Duszak, the most decorated Polish teqer

At home field, multiple world championships-medallist, Adrian Duszak hopes that he will keep the gold home this time after second and third places at Teqball’s highest-ranked tournament. “I do not need bigger motivation than playing our beloved sport in my country, wearing the national jersey. I was dreaming of it and this is a reward for all those years of hard work. I am sure the home crowd will help me give my best.”

With many European countries, FITEQ is ready to bring to life CETEQ, The European Confederation of Teqball. Jawad El Hajri, President of the French Teqball Federation shared that Teqball in the old continent is ready for the next phase and the federation together will be able to create and shape Teqball’s future.

The European Games will take place in Krakow, Poland, the Teqball competition will be held from 28 June until 1 July at the beautiful Main Square.

29 June: Men’s Single

30 June: Mixed Doubles

1 July: Women’s Doubles & Men’s Double.
