CTL - Grindsted kicks off with a field full of experience and young talents

The Challenger Teqball League kicks off on the 8th of May, with this edition taking place in Grindsted, Denmark.

The 4th event of the Challenger Teqball League in 2025 starts in Grindsted, Denmark this weekend.

The field features the crème of Teqball in every category, however, men's singles is full of high-profile athletes, headlined by the 3rd place in the FITEQ World Ranking, Adam Blazsovics (HUN) and Marek Pokwap (POL), who now sits in 4th place following this month’s FITEQ World Ranking update. Sixteen-year-old Stefan Orlowski (POL) and 17-year-old Gonçalo Reis (POR) will be looking to cause an upset in the star-studded lineup. The field may be relatively slim, but the quality more than compensates.

In the men’s doubles category, World Number 1 in men’s singles, Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU), partners with his regular teammate Pokwap as they aim to take home another gold medal after their recent win in Wavre, Belgium. Denmark’s own Brian Mengel Thomsen will pair up with four-time world champion Blazsovics, forming one of the most formidable duos in the draw as they look to challenge the last CTL’s winning partnership. The men’s doubles bracket also includes a young, dynamic Danish duo - Frederik Guldborg-Mondrup and Saxe Paarup-Clausen - who will be hoping for an explosive run on home soil.

The mixed doubles features European champion Kinga Barabasi (ROU) alongside her usual partner, Gyorgydeak, just weeks after their thrilling three-set semi-final clash at the Teqball World Series in Jinan. In Group B, Danish pairing Noah Dahlmann and Mira Fænø Dahlmann will be eager to go all the way and clinch gold in front of a home crowd. France’s Amélie Julian teams up with Guldborg-Mondrup, shaping up as one of the most exciting pairings to watch in the field.

The women’s singles includes TWS Jinan bronze medallist Anna Izsak (HUN), who will be seeking revenge against Barabasi after their latest meeting at CTL Pécs PSN went the way of the European champion in two straight sets (12–6, 12–6). Group B features Jinan’s other bronze medallist, Amélie Julian, who will take on Adriana Kecerová (SLO), a finalist in her most recent outing at the Teqball Cup in Prešov.

This stop on the Challenger Teqball League presents a strong blend of proven, experienced players and hungry young talents eager to make their mark. The competition runs from May 8th to 10th, with a prize pool of €4,000 to be distributed among the medallists across all four categories.

The finals on Saturday will be streamed on TEQ TV
