CTL - The summer starts with the Teqball festival in Ibiza

With 56 athletes representing 22 countries in four categories the new season kicks off in Ibiza, Spain.

In the short history of the Challenger Teqball League, never that many nations participated in any CTL events. The Challenger Teqball League - Ibiza tournament with 56 athletes representing 22 countries from three continents breaks multiple records even before the first serve.

From June 6 to 8, summer kicks off in Ibiza with the upcoming Challenger Teqball League event. The 5th competition of CTL's 2025 season will be held at the Poliesportiu Es Pratet centre, while the finalists will experience a real festival or "party" vibe in the city centre, as the Vara de Rey square hosts the four finals on Sunday.

In the 'King category', the fresh Teqball World Series winner in Dezhou, Marek Pokwap (POL) has the highest seed and seems to be the 'athlete to beat" for the title. Behind him, it is hard to predict who can reach the podium. The 'Danish Dynamite', Saxe Paarup-Clausen shocked everyone at Teqball Cup - Pecs PSN, in Hungary back in February by clinching his first two international titles (both in singles and men's doubles), and Alexander Hamm from Austria belong to the new generation and we may see them at the first European Youth Teqball Championships in two months in Pecs. Experience will show its face also in men's singles as the Italian Pasquale Errico who is also the main organiser of the event, multiple world medallist, Szaboly Ilyes (ROU), Jonathan Coquelle (BEL), Samir Fadeli (FRA), David Kratochvil (CZE), Patryk Kaminski (POL), Marko Zarkovic (MNE), Dmytro Shevchuk (UKR), Zaid Eidan (KUW) or Baptiste Berna (POR) are all seasoned veterans with tons of Teqball events in the bag.

Kinga Barabasi (ROU) is almost unstoppable in 2025 as she took home eight trophies. The two-time world bronze medallist and European champion join forces with the world bronze medallist and European silver medallist, Amelie Julian (FRA) in women's doubles. Their biggest challenger can be Krisztina Acs (HUN) and in the absence of her partner in crime, Gabriella Kota due to an ankle injury, her countrywoman, the 2021 'Queen of Teqball', Anna Izsak. World championships fifth, Silvia Ferrer Garcia (ESP) and Maria Chedid (LBN) are one of the prospects to reach the finals while the Canadians, Sarah Rees and Karin Kaur Brech play together for the first time in 2025.

Apor Gyorgydeak will not face their challenger in MS but in mixed doubles. Together with Barabasi, they have the lowest odds of getting the trophy. Nikola Mitro was not able to stop the current 'King of Teqball' in 2025 as he lost again in Dezhou in the final just like at the World Teqball Championships 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, or in Presov and the list goes on. This time, the Serbian three-time world champion teamed up with Acs to stop the GOBEK. Representing the host country, Ferrer Garcia joined forces with Luis Santos (POR). After the victory in Setubal, Maria Clemente/Martim Vasques (POR) is full of confidence. Another Portuguese prodigy Goncalo Reis will step to the table with Julian. The usual duo, Kaminsky and Ewa Kaminska are tough to beat with their experience and the Chedid/Lionel Beyer pair looks also great on paper as Beyer is a sharp attacker while Chedid is a solid defender. Interestingly, three Ukrainian-Kuwaiti duos formed to show their potential.

We start the category of men's doubles with another GOBEK duo as Gyorgyeak/Pokwap are unbeatable in 2025 so far. 30-0 and won five trophies. As the Hungarian domestic championships and qualifiers' 3rd round takes place at the same weekend and the superb Serbians will not compete together in the hiatus of Bogdan Marojevic, it is hard to tell who will challenge the Romanian club's best men's athletes. Vasques/Reis, Noah Dahlmann (DEN)/Paarup-Clausen are promising next-generation talents. Mitro teams up with his good friend from North Macedonia, Dimitar Pejchinovski. The Montenegrin champions, Zarkovic & Andrija Jovanovic know each other well and the world championships fifth Ukrainians Shevchuk/Oleh Usychenko both know the recipe for a successful run.

The Challenger Teqball League Ibiza presents a strong blend of proven, experienced players and hungry young talents eager to make their mark. The competition runs from June 6th to 8th, with a prize pool of €4,000 to be distributed among the medallists across all four categories.

The finals on Sunday will be streamed on TEQ TV
