Slovakian Teqball School Championships reach new heights with record participation

Record 76 schools joined Slovakia’s Teqball School League in a breakthrough 2024/25 season.

The 2024/25 academic year marked a major milestone for teqball in Slovakia, as the School Teqball League reached unprecedented levels of participation and recognition. For the first time, the competition was held under the umbrella of the National School Sports project, overseen by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic. The league brought together 76 schools — both elementary and secondary — from six regions across the country, making it a landmark year for youth teqball in Slovakia.

“Participants in school, district, regional, and national tournaments showed that the interest in Teqball, as well as the quality of youth teqball in Slovakia, is growing. We will start the new year of school competitions again in September, we believe that with even bigger participants,” said Artur Benes, President of Teqball Slovakia.

A total of 35 elementary schools joined the competition, which was structured into four qualification rounds, culminating in a national final that featured the top 10 schools. More than 100 young athletes took part, showcasing impressive talent and passion for this fast-growing sport.

The secondary school category saw even broader engagement, with 41 schools competing in 13 qualification rounds. Altogether, over 160 students participated, reflecting a growing competitive spirit and deeper grassroots development across the Slovakian teqball scene.

The national finals crowned two champions — one each in the elementary and secondary divisions. These winners now stand as role models for aspiring teqball players nationwide and represent the rising standard of Slovak youth in this globally recognized sport.

With plans already underway for the next school year’s league starting in September 2025, the future of teqball in Slovakia looks brighter than ever. The School Teqball League not only supports athletic development but also fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and innovation in school sports.

As more schools join this dynamic and accessible sport, Slovakia continues to strengthen its position on the international teqball stage — one school at a time.
