Kaufmann & Santana showed their talent in Canada

In three categories, with 33 athletes representing 12 countries from 4 continents Canada organised its first international Teqball event.

Kaufmann and Santana both won in two categories, while Zsibok secured his first international Teqball title at the Canadian Teqball Tournament.

During the group stage of the women’s singles, the second-highest-seeded athlete, Karin Kaur Brech (CAN), was injured and did not continue the event. Kindall Kaufmann’s (USA) and Stephanie Brito’s (POR) final was inevitable, where the former triumphed, while from the Brazilian rookies, Aline Ansara, got the bronze in two sets against Isadora Bittencourt.

Despite his age (21), Milan Zsibok, representing the home country, is experienced, and he used it to reach the men's singles final confidently. Aaron Servin (MEX) waited for him in the gold game after he beat the other Canadian, Robert Kertesz, in a three-setter roller-coaster. This may wear Servin out as he only scored 7 points combined. For the bronze, Kertesz played another close match, with another Mexican. This time he won, while Afdel Yair Parra Sanchez finished 4th.

There were no surprises in men’s doubles as both the duo of Dennis Correia (USA)/Leonardo Santana (BRA) and Kertesz/Zsibok marched into the last bout of the category. There, the higher-ranked doubles showed the Canadians what it takes to win an international event. The bronze medals were taken by Parra Sanchez/Servin.

Kaufmann and Santana finished the competition with two titles after they got the victory in mixed doubles against Correia/Brito in the final. In the bronze game, Dishit Jain (IND)/Ansara bettered Bittencourt and Clio Da Rosa De Castro.

After the two-week summer break, the season continues in Slovakia with the Teqball Youth Cup  - Zilina on July 12.
