Dassa-Zoumè hosted the 4th Benin National Teqball Championships

From June 27 to 29, 2025, the city of Dassa-Zoumè hosted the 4th edition of the Benin National Teqball Championships, bringing together the nation’s finest athletes for a competition marked by high-level performances, emerging talent, and a strong commitment to the development of the sport.

From June 27 to 29, 2025, the vibrant city of Dassa-Zoumè became the epicentre of Teqball in Benin, as it hosted the 4th edition of the National Teqball Championships. Organised by the Beninese Teqball Federation (FéBéTeq) under the distinguished patronage of the Benin National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Staged at the facilities of the Collège d’Enseignement Général, the championships brought together the country’s best Teqball players across four categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and youth.

In the men’s singles final, reigning champion Alban Chédrac Ahomadi (Tori Teqball Club) successfully defended his title in a dramatic 2-1 victory over Maxime Kassa (Union Sportive de la Pendjari). The women’s singles delivered one of the event’s biggest surprises: 15-year-old sensation Parfaite toppled defending champion Ausmia in straight but hard-fought sets, signalling the rise of a new star on the Teqball scene.

The men’s doubles final was another highlight, with Armel Houngbétodé and Stanislas Attalodjou (AS Racine de Bohicon) clinching a thrilling 2-1 win over Thémaud Gnanvi and Ambroise Didjonou (AS Aïdégnon d’Abomey-Calavi). After a flawless run to the final, Houngbétodé and Attalodjou’s resilience sealed their championship glory.

This year’s edition introduced an exciting new youth category, a clear sign of FéBéTeq’s commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening the sport’s foundations across the country. Beyond the fierce competition, the event was marked by a spirit of solidarity: participating teams received new kits and Teqball balls, part of the federation’s initiative to support clubs and promote inclusive development of the sport at the grassroots level.

With the conclusion of the national championships, Benin’s Teqball national team roster is now set for the upcoming West African Teqball Tournament, scheduled to take place in Ghana later this year. The Dassa-Zoumè event not only crowned national champions but also reaffirmed Benin’s growing stature on the regional Teqball stage.

As the dust settles on this remarkable edition, one thing is clear: Teqball in Benin is gaining momentum, powered by passion, talent, and a vision for the future.
