FITEQ launches Table of Peace programme to contribute to a brighter future through sport

The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) has launched a new global CSR programme under the banner Table of Peace.

The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) has launched a new global CSR programme under the banner Table of Peace as part of its ongoing commitment to contribute to a brighter future through sport by using teqball to support communities all around the world.

The Table of Peace programme will see FITEQ donate Teq tables to post-conflict and disadvantaged communities in collaboration with local partners. The aim of the programme is to engage young people in sporting activities to help provide an escape from the daily challenges they face, whilst also teaching them transferrable skills and key values such as teamwork, inclusivity and integrity. The initiative follows a successful long-standing partnership with Peace and Sport, where FITEQ has been part of the Live Together programme in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan.

The Table of Peace programme launched this week in Djibouti during the Teqball Roadshow, with FITEQ and the Djibouti Teqball Federation, in collaboration with the Djibouti National Olympic Committee and its President, IOC Member Aïcha Garad Ali, donating Teq tables to all three refugee camps in the country. In addition to donating tables, FITEQ is implementing the programme around the concept of training the trainers that has proven to be effective in the Zaatari Refugee Camp. FITEQ’s team of sport instructors have provided practical workshops to trainers in the camps in Djibouti, which will lead to lasting legacy of the teqball family continuing to grow and inspiring future generations.

FITEQ Head of CSR and Diplomatic Relations Gergely Murányi said:

“We’re thrilled to have launched the Table of Peace programme and it is an honour to have done so in Djibouti, a country that is passionate about teqball and shares our vision of a brighter future through sport. The FITEQ team has been planning this programme for many months, so to see the implementation phase begin is very special. Using teqball to make a real difference in communities that need it the most is something that FITEQ feels very strongly about. We want to use our platform to reach people that are facing adversity and use sport to teach them skills and life lessons that will help them in the future. This is only the start and we’re excited about what the future holds.”

The Table of Peace programme will continue to be rolled out in the coming months as FITEQ continues to travel to all five continents during the Teqball Roadshow.
