CTL - Acs & Katz were resistant in Monaco
With 46 athletes representing 11 countries, the Challenger Teqball League – Monaco was the sixth event of this tournament in 2025 and the big streak in men’s doubles is over.
As predicted in the preview of the CTL – Monaco stop, world silver medallists from last year, Krisztina Acs/Petra Pechy, were unstoppable in women's doubles. Nobody came closer than 9 points in their campaign, not even in the final, where Maria Chedid (LBN)/Amelie Julian (FRA) were the opponents as the second favourites of the category. The 2021 ‘Queen of Teqball’, Anna Izsak (HUN) and Elonora Cunsolo, got the third place in two straight sets against Adriana Kecerova (SVK)/Lucie Stvrtnova.
Just like in the other categories, in men’s doubles, multiple U19 talents competed as part of their preparations for the sport’s first European Youth Teqball Championships. However, the favourites did not let anybody close to the fire. The unbeaten duo in 2025, Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) & Marek Pokwap (POL), reached the final confidently. On the other branch, the newly formed twosome, the four-time world champion Adam Blazsovics and the 2023 world champion of MD, Balazs Katz, performed similarly. While Julian Grondin (FRA) with Bartlomiej Franczuk (POL) kept the bronze medal home against Szaboly Ilyes (ROU) and Boldizsar Levik (HUN) in three sets, the final promised an even closer matchup. However, the debuting party beautifully handled the GOBEK’S rhythm and triumphed in two sets.
With two Hungarian pairs, the mixed doubles final was the closest of the three gold games. Both Krisztina Acs/Balazs Katz and Petra Pechy/Adam Blazsovics stepped to the table to get their second trophies. After world-class rallies and nail-biting moments, Acs & Katz stepped onto the highest spot of the podium and also got the MVP awards of the CTL – Monaco. The third place was taken by Amelie Julian/Marek Pokwap after beating Apor Gyorgydeak/Tunde Miklos (ROU)
The first half of 2025 concluded in Monaco, and after the two-week summer break, the season continues in Slovakia with the Teqball Youth Cup - Zilina on July 12.
