The Canadian Teqball Tour continued its momentum in Toronto, following successful events in Calgary and Guelph. The Toronto Teqball Open marked a significant milestone for the development of the sport in the country, as Canada’s largest city hosted an international Teqball competition for the first time.

 

The event welcomed athletes from Canada, the United States, Morocco, Chile, Brazil, Hungary, India and the Philippines, bringing together a diverse international field alongside a strong Canadian contingent. Toronto Teqball Club, Montreal Teqball Club, Futuro Teqball Club and the Quebec Teqball Association were all represented during the competition.

 

Following a competitive group stage, the leading players successfully progressed to the knockout rounds in both the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles categories.

 

In Men’s Doubles, Milan Zsibok (CAN) and Robert Kertesz Jr. (CAN) of Toronto Teqball Club secured the title after defeating Sawyer Rog (CAN) and Saab (CAN), representing Montreal and Ottawa respectively, in straight sets in the final.

 

The bronze medal match provided further international representation, with Dishit Jain (IND) and Jose Vasquez (USA) facing Daniel Kovacs (HUN) and Dan (CAN). Jain and Vasquez produced a strong performance to claim third place with a straight-set victory.

 

The Men’s Singles competition saw Sawyer Rog continue his strong development on the Canadian Teqball scene. Rog secured the bronze medal and strengthened his position as the No. 3 player in the Canadian singles ranking, while demonstrating his ability to challenge the country’s leading athletes.

 

The title was ultimately decided between Toronto Teqball Club teammates Milan Zsibok and Robert Kertesz Jr. In the final, Zsibok delivered a composed performance to defeat Kertesz in straight sets and complete the tournament with the Men’s Singles title alongside his Men’s Doubles victory.

 

Alongside the main competition, the organisers also held a friendly Women’s Singles event, providing additional competitive opportunities for female athletes. Katherine Di Pace (CAN) finished first, ahead of Stephanie Bukovec (CAN) in second place and Sonia Chalk (CAN) in third.

 

With athletes from eight countries taking part and a strong level of competition across the categories, the Toronto Teqball Open represented another important step in the continued growth of Teqball in Canada. Following the earlier stops in Calgary and Guelph, the successful Toronto event further highlighted the expanding national Teqball community and the increasing international reach of competitions in the country.
