Gyorgydeak Claims Double Gold as Thailand Shines at Teqball Tour – Si Racha 2026

The Teqball Tour made its debut in Si Racha, Thailand, from 23 to 25 October 2026, bringing together established international stars and promising local talents for three days of high-level competition. With Men's Singles, Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles on the programme, the tournament delivered exciting encounters, unexpected results and memorable finals, further highlighting Thailand's growing importance in the international Teqball landscape.

The coastal city of Si Racha welcomed international Teqball competition for the first time, providing a new stage for athletes from around the world. The tournament featured a particularly strong international field alongside an impressive number of young Thai players, many of whom demonstrated their potential against experienced competitors.

With several of the world's highest-ranked athletes competing across the three categories, spectators witnessed intense battles throughout the group stages and knockout rounds, culminating in three highly anticipated finals.

Men's Singles: European Stars Lead the Way

The opening day featured the Men's Singles competition, with six players from the world's top ten taking part in the tournament. Five of them underlined their status as favourites by finishing at the top of their respective groups and advancing to the knockout stage.

The host nation also enjoyed encouraging performances, with two Thai athletes progressing beyond the group stage. Jirati Chanliang (THA), competing in the singles category, secured his place in the knockout rounds, while Boonkoom Tipwong (THA), returning to international competition following his appearance at the 2024 Teqball World Championships, also advanced.

The knockout stage produced a series of entertaining encounters, with European athletes establishing their dominance. Several all-Hungarian and all-Polish clashes added further intensity to the competition as the leading contenders battled for a place in the final.

Ultimately, Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) and Stefan Orlowski (POL) emerged from the field to set up a highly anticipated championship match.

Women's Singles: Thai Talents Dominate on Home Soil

The second day shifted the spotlight to Women's Singles, where the depth of Thailand's emerging talent became one of the tournament's defining stories.

Of the ten Thai athletes competing in the category, eight successfully advanced from the group stage, demonstrating the strength and growing competitiveness of the country's women's Teqball programme.

Four players ranked inside the world's top ten reached the knockout rounds, but the competition also produced one of the tournament's biggest surprises. World No. 2 Kinga Barabasi (ROU) suffered an unexpected Round of 16 elimination, opening the door for other contenders to make their mark.

Thai athletes continued their impressive performances throughout the knockout stage, with Viorica Tonu (MDA) emerging as the last remaining international challenger. The Moldovan reached the semifinals before being eliminated by Jutatip Kuntatong (THA), who secured her place in the final.

On the other side of the draw, Wantika Innu (THA) completed her impressive campaign by advancing to the championship match, setting up an all-Thai final between two outstanding home representatives.

Mixed Doubles: World Champions Face Familiar Rivals

The final day began with the Mixed Doubles competition, featuring a strong international field divided into eight groups.

The category promised several exciting matchups, although one of the anticipated partnerships was forced to withdraw. Fresh from winning silver at the 2026 Asian Games, the Japanese duo of Yuina Sakamoto (JPN) and Akinori Wasse (JPN) were unable to compete after Sakamoto sustained an injury on the opening day.

Despite their absence, the competition delivered plenty of memorable encounters.

One of the standout partnerships was the Hungarian-French combination of Benjamin Patrik Toth (HUN) and Amelie Julian (FRA). The duo produced an impressive run through the knockout rounds before eventually being stopped in the semifinals by reigning World Champions Gyorgydeak and Barabasi.

On the other side of the draw, Marek Pokwap (POL) and Patricia Nardy (BRA) challenged Thai favourites Suphawadi Wongkhamchan (THA) and Phakpong Dejaroen (THA) in an entertaining quarterfinal encounter.

The Polish-Brazilian partnership pushed the home duo to their limits, but Wongkhamchan and Dejaroen managed to turn the match around and secure their place in the semifinals. The Thai pair maintained their momentum to reach the championship match.

The final therefore brought together two familiar partnerships: reigning World Champions Gyorgydeak and Barabasi against Wongkhamchan and Dejaroen.

The encounter was a rematch of the 2025 Teqball World Championships final in Odorheiu Secuiesc, where the Romanian duo had dethroned the Thai pair to claim the world title. This time, Wongkhamchan and Dejaroen had the opportunity to seek revenge in front of their home supporters.

Finals: Gyorgydeak Completes Golden Double as Kuntatong Triumphs

The tournament concluded with three exciting finals, as the leading contenders battled for the titles in front of an enthusiastic crowd in Si Racha.

Men's Singles: Gyorgydeak Overcomes Orlowski

Gyorgydeak (ROU) vs Orlowski (POL) – 2–0

The Men's Singles final promised another fascinating chapter in the rivalry between Gyorgydeak and Orlowski.

The two athletes had already met twice in recent competitions, with each claiming one victory, making their latest encounter particularly intriguing.

Orlowski made a strong start, putting pressure on his Romanian opponent with aggressive and confident play. The opening set developed into a closely contested battle, with both players producing excellent technical exchanges and impressive attacking shots.

However, Gyorgydeak remained composed during the decisive moments and managed to secure the first set.

The second set saw the Romanian raise his level further. Displaying greater consistency and concentration, Gyorgydeak gradually took control of the match and secured a more comfortable set victory to claim the Men's Singles title in straight sets.

Women's Singles: Kuntatong Confirms Her World-Class Status

Kuntatong (THA) vs Innu (THA) – 2–0

The Women's Singles final provided a special occasion for the home crowd, with two Thai athletes competing for the title.

World No. 1 and two-time Women's Singles World Champion Kuntatong entered the match as the favourite, but Innu demonstrated why she had earned her place in the final.

Both players contributed to an entertaining contest, producing impressive rallies, creative attacking combinations and excellent defensive reactions.

Despite facing one of the most accomplished players in the sport, Innu delivered a confident performance and challenged her experienced opponent throughout the encounter.

Nevertheless, Kuntatong's consistency and experience proved decisive as she secured a straight-sets victory, adding another international title to her impressive record.

The all-Thai final represented another significant achievement for the host nation, highlighting both its established champions and the next generation of talented athletes.

Mixed Doubles: World Champions Prevail in World Championship Rematch

Gyorgydeak / Barabasi (ROU) vs Wongkhamchan / Dejaroen (THA) – 2–0

The Mixed Doubles final was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated encounters of the tournament, bringing together the reigning World Champions and their Thai rivals.

At the 2025 Teqball World Championships in Odorheiu Secuiesc, Gyorgydeak and Barabasi had defeated Wongkhamchan and Dejaroen to take the world title away from the Thai partnership.

Competing on home soil, Wongkhamchan and Dejaroen were determined to reverse that result and claim victory in front of their supporters.

The opening set lived up to expectations, with both partnerships delivering high-quality rallies and maintaining pressure on their opponents. The Thai duo fought hard, but Gyorgydeak and Barabasi demonstrated their experience and composure in the closing stages to take the advantage.

In the second set, the Romanian partnership maintained its momentum, combining consistent defensive play with effective attacking combinations.

Gyorgydeak and Barabasi remained focused throughout the set and eventually secured a 2–0 victory, repeating their World Championship success against the Thai pair.

For Gyorgydeak, the result completed an outstanding tournament, as he claimed both the Men's Singles and Mixed Doubles titles in Si Racha. Barabasi, meanwhile, bounced back from her early Women's Singles elimination to finish the event on top of the podium.

Si Racha Marks a Successful New Chapter for Teqball in Thailand

The inaugural Teqball Tour in Si Racha represented another important step in the continued development of the sport in Thailand and across Southeast Asia.

Beyond the impressive performances of established international stars, the tournament highlighted the remarkable depth of local talent, particularly in the Women's Singles category, where Thai athletes dominated the competition and secured both places in the final.

The presence of several world-leading players also provided valuable international experience for emerging athletes, creating opportunities to compete against some of the sport's most accomplished names.

With Gyorgydeak completing a golden double, Kuntatong confirming her position among the world's elite and Thailand's rising generation delivering promising performances, the tournament offered a compelling combination of international excellence and local success.

And the Teqball action in Thailand is far from over. The international competition continues with the upcoming Teqball World Series – Ayutthaya, where the doubles categories will take centre stage as some of the world's leading partnerships return to compete for international honours.

Fans around the world can follow the action and watch the matches live on the TEQ TV YouTube channel.
