Pokwap Triumphs Again in Sarajevo, Mitro and Marojevic Extend Winning Streak in Men’s Doubles

The fourth event of the 2026 Adriatic Teqball League (ATL) brought international Teqball action to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 43 athletes representing 15 countries competing across the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles categories.

The competition was staged across two venues in the Bosnian capital. The group stage took place at the Goran Čengić Sports Hall, before the tournament moved to ARIA Mall for the final stage, where the decisive matches were played in front of the Sarajevo crowd.

In Men’s Singles, Marek Pokwap (POL), representing Gobek Teqball Team, continued his impressive run of form on the Adriatic Teqball League. Following his victory at the previous ATL event in Žabljak, the world’s top-ranked men’s singles player added another title to his season by defeating Rába ETO Győr SE player Balazs Katz (HUN) 2–0 (12–8, 12–5) in the final.

Pokwap’s path to the title included one of the most anticipated encounters of the tournament as he faced fellow Gobek Teqball Team athlete Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) in the semifinals. The three-set contest saw Pokwap take the opening set before Gyorgydeak responded in the second. The Polish athlete ultimately secured his place in the final with a 2–1 (12–6, 10–12, 12–7) victory.

In the other semifinal, Katz was pushed to three sets by Bogdan Marojevic (SRB), with the Hungarian eventually prevailing to book his place in the final.

Pokwap’s victory over Gyorgydeak also continued a remarkable recent chapter in their Adriatic Teqball League rivalry. Over the past three seasons, Gyorgydeak has suffered only two defeats at ATL events, with both coming against Pokwap. Their first such encounter came in Bar in 2025, when Pokwap brought an end to Gyorgydeak’s extraordinary run of 87 consecutive victories and a 20-month unbeaten streak.

The Men’s Doubles competition delivered another high-level final, with reigning world champions Nikola Mitro (SRB) and Bogdan Marojevic once again demonstrating their consistency as a partnership. Representing Teq Liman, the Serbian duo completed the tournament undefeated and claimed the title with a 2–1 (12–10, 9–12, 12–4) victory over the Gobek Teqball Team pairing of Pokwap and Gyorgydeak.

Mitro and Marojevic advanced to the final after defeating the MTK Budapest duo of Gergo Dombai (HUN) and Soma Cseri (HUN) 2–0 in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, Pokwap and Gyorgydeak secured their place in the title match with a 2–0 victory over the Rába ETO Győr SE pairing of Katz and Benjamin Patrik Toth (HUN).

The Sarajevo programme extended beyond the competition itself. On the day following the tournament, participants took part in a Community Bike Tour through Sarajevo as part of the Explore More with Teqball project, implemented with the support of the Visegrad Fund.

Athletes and participants from different countries had the opportunity to discover the city by bicycle, spend time together away from the competitive environment and further strengthen the international connections created through Teqball. The activity continued the project’s efforts to combine sport with community engagement, sustainable initiatives and opportunities to explore the destinations hosting Teqball events.

With another competitive edition completed, the Adriatic Teqball League once again showcased both established champions and some of the leading athletes on the international circuit, while Sarajevo provided a memorable setting for the regional series. Pokwap’s back-to-back ATL singles titles for Gobek Teqball Team and the continued success of Mitro and Marojevic highlighted an event that combined elite-level competition with the wider community values promoted through Teqball.
