Herceg Novi Successfully Hosts Opening Tournament of the 2026 Adriatic Teqball League
The first tournament of the 2026 Adriatic Teqball League was successfully held in Herceg Novi, Montenegro on the 16th of May, marking an important step in the continued regional growth of Teqball across the Adriatic region. Hosted at the Sports Center Igalo, the event brought together several of the world’s top-ranked athletes and delivered high-level competition in both the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles categories.
The opening tournament of the 2026 season brought together an impressive international lineup, headlined by Marek Pokwap of the GOBEK Teqball Team, who currently tops the FITEQ World Ranking in Men’s Doubles, as well as Men’s Singles world No.2 Nikola Mitro of Serbian team Teq Liman. The event also featured several internationally recognised athletes, further underlining the growing prestige and competitive level of the Adriatic Teqball League.
In the Men’s Singles category, Marek Pokwap captured the title after a dominant performance in the final, defeating Bogdan Marojevic (SRB) in straight sets, 2-0 (12:3, 12:9).
The Men’s Doubles competition produced another exciting final, where the Teq Liman duo of Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojević overcame Marek Pokwap and Bartlomiej Franczuk (POL) to secure the gold medal. With this victory, Mitro and Marojevic once again confirmed their position among the leading doubles teams on the international Teqball scene.
Beyond the competition itself, the event also placed a strong emphasis on grassroots development and youth engagement. Ahead of the tournament, Teqball savez Crne Gore organized a promotional Teqball activation in Herceg Novi and donated a Teqball table to Elementary School “Ilija Kišić”, continuing ongoing efforts to introduce the sport to younger generations and strengthen Teqball’s presence within educational institutions.
The successful organization of the event was made possible through the cooperation of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Herceg Novi Tourist Organization, and Sports Center Igalo. Their support helped elevate the traditional national competition into a high-quality international tournament as part of the Adriatic Teqball League calendar.
Following a successful opening event in Montenegro, the Adriatic Teqball League will continue on 13rd of June with its next tournament stop in Ohrid, North Macedonia
