Teqball is set to be part of the inaugural Indonesian National Beach Games (PON Pantai I), scheduled to take place in Jakarta in late November 2026. The landmark multi-sport event will be hosted at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, one of Indonesia’s best-known coastal recreation and tourism destinations.

 

The inclusion of Teqball represents another important step in the continued development of the sport in Indonesia, providing athletes with an opportunity to compete as part of a major national multi-sport event.

 

A New Chapter for Beach Sports in Indonesia

 

PON Pantai I will mark the first edition of Indonesia’s National Beach Games. The initiative follows the growing prominence of beach and coastal multi-sport events at international level and aims to create a national platform for athletes competing across a variety of disciplines.

 

According to information released following a recent venue inspection and technical coordination meeting, the event is planned to take place over approximately one week, with Taman Impian Jaya Ancol serving as the main location.

 

Teqball is among the sports currently included in the programme alongside open water swimming, water polo, diving, 3x3 basketball, beach handball, volleyball, modern pentathlon, triathlon, rugby and sailing.

 

The organisers are working together with the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the Jakarta Provincial Government, KONI DKI Jakarta and Ancol to prepare the venues and competition programme.

 

Under the current plans, a minimum of five Indonesian provinces will be required to participate for a sport to be contested at the Games. The final competition programme and individual events will also be aligned with the facilities available at the venue.

 

Teqball Continues to Grow in Indonesia

 

The inclusion of Teqball at PON Pantai I reflects the sport’s increasing presence within Indonesia’s sporting landscape and provides another platform for its domestic development.

 

Indonesia has continued to strengthen its Teqball structures in recent years, with national and regional activities supporting the development of athletes and increasing opportunities to compete. Participation in a national multi-sport environment can further contribute to this progress by introducing Teqball to new audiences and strengthening its visibility across the country.

 

The beach setting in Ancol also provides a fitting environment for Teqball, combining competitive sport with the wider sport tourism ambitions behind the inaugural National Beach Games.
