Guatemala Teqball Tour to launch in 2021

The Guatemala National Teqball Federation is gearing up for the launch of its National Challenger Series in April 2021.

The Guatemala National Teqball Federation is gearing up for the launch of its National Challenger Series in April 2021, where athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2021 Teqball World Championships.

The competition series, branded by the National Federation as the Guatemala Teqball Tour, was promoted at a demonstration event that gave new teqers from across the country the opportunity to try the sport. The National Federation, which is led by President Mr Erick Acevedo and Secretary General Mr Martin Machón, has further promotional events planned in the coming months in the build-up to the start of the tour.

Representatives from the Hungarian Consulate in Guatemala, the Guatemalan Olympic Committee, the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala and the Guatemalan Ministry of Culture and Sports, attended the event. Participants in the teqball demonstration were football and futsal players from the country, who have the potential to be successful teqball players.

The Guatemalan Olympic Committee and the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala are offering their expertise to the National Teqball Federation, the development of which has been actively supported by FITEQ in recent years. Mr Acevedo, Mr Machón and their team have been working hard behind the scenes to get the National Federation ready for the launch of activities across the country. In addition to the tour, they are looking to organise referee and coaching courses, led by FITEQ-certified facilitators, to ensure there are opportunities for everyone to participate in the world’s fastest growing sport.
