The Kazakh School Teqball Championship took place from 2-3 November in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan. This nationwide teqball tournament for aspiring young teqers was the first teqball tournament to take place in the country and highlighted the potential the country has to win medals in major international teqball events.

The Championship saw 22 children aged 14-17 head to the capital to represent eight schools from eight towns or cities across Kazakhstan. The following teams took part in the event:

      • Nur-Sultan BIL (2 teams)
      • Yesik BIL (2 teams)
      • Yekibastuz BIL
      • Kostanay BIL
      • Almaty BIL
      • Zhezkazgan BIL
      • Semey BIL
      • Shymkent BIL

After the initial group stage, 8 of the 11 teams progressed to the knockout rounds. The tournament was organised to give each team the maximum amount of time possible on the court, therefore giving the young athletes important experience competing at an event. Each school showcased a high level of skill , as well as excellent sportsmanship, signalling an exciting future for Kazakh teqball.

At the conclusion of the Championship, Kostanay BIL, Yesik BIL and Almaty BIL took home bronze medals. Silver was awarded to Yekibastuz BIL and the second Yesik BIL team. However, there could be only one winner of the inaugural Kazakh School Teqball Championship, and that title was won by Nur-Sultan BIL, who reigned victorious on home turf.

After a successful first tournament, FITEQ looks forward to seeing further growth from the next generation of Kazakh teqers.
