FITEQ holds positive discussions with Turkic Council

FITEQ was part of a Hungarian Government visit to Turkey, where Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, attended a celebration of the history of Hungarian and Turkish football in Istanbul. Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Turkic Council, was also in attendance, with FITEQ donating a Teq table to the Council as part of the event.

Gergely Murányi, FITEQ Head of CSR and Diplomatic Relations, represented the international governing body for teqball. In addition to joining the Hungarian Government delegation at the football exhibition, he met with Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council. After a positive discussion on the world’s fastest growing sport, it was agreed that a FITEQ delegation would meet with the Council in September 2021 and present teqball to the Sports Ministers of the Turkic Council Member States.

The Turkic Council is comprised of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, whilst Hungary is an Observer State. The Council was established in 2009 as an intergovernmental organisation, with the overarching aim of promoting comprehensive cooperation among Turkic Speaking States. The Turkic Council Secretariat is based in Istanbul – the most populous city in Turkey.
