FITEQ discusses teqball and para teqball development with Austria’s leading sports organisations

The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, met with leading sports organisations in Austria to discuss the future of teqball and para teqball development.

FITEQ met with Sport Austria and the Austrian Paralympic Committee, as well as the Austrian Teqball Federation, at the Sport Austria Headquarters on 15 September. Sport Austria is a non-profit institution that aims to represent the interests of sport in Austria and in international organisations. It is the central coordination and advisory platform within the Austrian sports system.

The event was attended by the Head of the Sports Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, István Iglói-Nagy, and included a welcome speech by FITEQ General Secretary, Marius Vizer Jr. To support the future growth of the sport, three Teq tables were donated to Sport Austria, the Austrian Paralympic Committee, which won nine medals at Tokyo 2020, and the city of Eisenstadt. Hans Niessl, President of Sport Austria, Maria Rauch-Kallat, President of the Austrian Paralympic Committee, Alexandra Koncar, President of the Austrian Teqball Federation, and István Deli, Deputy Mayor of Eisenstadt were present on the day.

After the ceremonial handover of the tables, professional players gave a demonstration with a particular focus on para teqball. Since its launch in March 2021, para teqball has been growing in all five continents. It has been incorporated into the elite and grassroots programmes of National Federations, seven of which have received recognition from National Paralympic Committees.

Following the event, Marius Vizer Jr said, "We are very grateful for the support of Sport Austria, an organisation that FITEQ shares many values with. Given our shared passion for sports development, we are looking forward to our collaboration in the future. We are confident that the Teq tables donated to Sport Austria, the Austrian Paralympic Committee, and the city of Eisenstadt will help spur further growth in participation in teqball and para teqball across the country.”
