FITEQ announces major investment in the sport through club development programme

FITEQ has launched a worldwide club development programme targeted at supporting the teqball family during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as stimulating long-term growth in participation of teqball globally. The global club development programme, which will be implemented in conjunction with FITEQ’s existing National Federation support programme, will result in an investment of around 10 million euros into the sport. The investment will enable countries to speed up the process of establishing the structures that provide the foundations for the growth of teqball. The club development programme will provide the 52 existing National Teqball Federations, as well as all future federations, with the physical infrastructure (notably TEQ Lite tables) and educational support needed to build the sport in their country.

FITEQ General Secretary Marius Vizer Jr said: “We have seen a huge appetite for teqball all over the world, which has resulted in over 50 national teqball federations recognised by FITEQ in three years. It is our role at FITEQ to ensure these federations, as well as all future federations, are equipped to grow the sport in their country, especially during the hard times we are currently in. Through the teqball club development programme we will enable national teqball federations to provide tables and educational support to teqball clubs, which are the lifeblood of the growth of the sport at a grassroots level.”

The two programmes will result in a commensurate amount of support provided to National Teqball Federations to ensure the best allocation of resources. Club development coordinators have been appointed to manage the implementation of the programme and, in alignment with the National Federation support programme, ensure that all teqball stakeholders are receiving the necessary support.
