Canada Teqball announces the country's National Teqball series

Teqball in Canada grows rapidly and the nation's first national championships will be organised in four different provinces.

Canada already shows its potential in Teqball as Robert Kertesz is 52nd among men while Sarah Rees is 17th in the women's singles World Rankings. However, the National Teqball Federation of Canada reached a new level by announcing the debut of the domestic championships with eight tournaments.

Although the National Teqball Federation of Canada was only established a few years ago, its athletes already showed the world their potential. Robert Kertesz reached the knockout stage at the World Teqball Championships 2023 in Bangkok both in men's singles and doubles. In the latter category, with Milan Zsibok. Among women, Sarah Rees is the highest-ranked Canadian player who reached the Round of 16 at the world champs in singles, and only the runner-up Jutatip Kuntatong stopped her in two, very close sets. In Rio de Janeiro, at the Teqball Tour, she had her best result yet as she along with Karin Kaur Brech finished 5th in women's doubles.

In 2024, our Globe's second-biggest country will organize its first domestic championships, the National Series with five categories. The tournament starts in Toronto in March, and then continues in Montreal in the next month. There will be one stop in each month: in May Toronto; in June Ottawa, in July Toronto, in August Toronto Beach as the only outdoor event, in September Toronto and finally Montreal hosts the best teqers in October. The athletes will collect points and the national champion will be named with the most. the Toronto National Championship in July will also be this year's World Teqball Championships 2024 Qualifiers, thus this event is worth twice more regarding points.

Canada is also developing with new members. Quebec Teqball Association was established last year, based in Montreal. In 2023 they organized the first provincial tournament called the Quebec Teqball Open, with 35 athletes. They had several shows and open practices with McGill University, CS Boucherville, Collage St Anne, ARS Concordia, ARS Lanaudiere, and LA Surboum Soccer Tournament. They also installed a table at the stadium of the CF Montreal, which team competes in the Major League Soccer for fans to try Teqball.

In this season the National Teqball Federation of Canada and Quebec Teqball will organize two major national events. The Quebec Open first leg will happen on April 6, while the second on October 12.

"I am expecting a lot from 2024" says enthusiastically Mr. Akos Prekor, President of the national Teqball federation. He highlights that the National Series is a huge leap for Teqball Canada and to have tables in four provinces (Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia) is a huge achievement. "Our next goal is to find sponsorship/partnership, who understands how fast the sport is growing and with their help, we can find more players in this country like Sarah Rees who is currently #17 in the FITEQ WR." he adds.
