MTL kicked off in Herceg Novi
The Montenegrin Teqball League launched its 2025 season on April 26th at the Igalo Sports Centre in Herceg Novi, sparking excitement across the national sports scene. With 26 athletes registered and competing across three official categories—men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles—the opening event was a strong indicator of teqball’s growing momentum in the country.
One name stood out above the rest: Marko Žarković. Teaming up with Andrija Jovanović, Žarković helped Team Budućnost secure the men’s doubles title after a series of dominant performances. But he didn’t stop there—Žarković went on to win the men’s singles competition as well, establishing himself as a rising star on the national teqball circuit.
In the mixed doubles category, the crowd had extra reason to cheer. Representing the host city, KMF Makina—featuring Tamara Milović and Luka Tomašević—claimed the top spot. Their strong chemistry and tactical play led them to a well-earned victory and brought pride to Herceg Novi fans in attendance.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the league’s debut was the surge in domestic media attention. The event generated a significant number of mainstream media hits, appearing in top national sports outlets and circulating widely across social media platforms. The coverage emphasized both the competitive level of the matches and the league's professional organization.
This wave of media engagement is a promising sign for teqball’s future in Montenegro, positioning it as one of the fastest-growing sports in the region.
With an action-packed start and growing public interest, the Montenegrin Teqball League is poised for an exciting season ahead. Fans and athletes alike will be watching closely as the next matches unfold—and as teqball continues to carve out its place in Montenegro’s sporting culture. Moreover, the Balkan countries will experience more Teqball as the Adriatic Teqball League is about to continue with five events this year, and starting in 2025, it will be open for every participant. The first stop is in Ohrid, North Macedonia, the second in Bar, MNE, the third in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina while the rest of the two is unannounced yet.
