FITEQ sets new age rules to protect young athletes and ensure fair play

The updated rules apply to all athletes participating in FITEQ-sanctioned events and are designed to ensure athlete welfare, competitive fairness, and adherence to global youth protection standards.

FITEQ has issued updated Age Eligibility Regulations that will take effect from 1 May 2025. These rules apply to all athletes participating in FITEQ-sanctioned events and are designed to ensure athlete welfare, competitive fairness, and adherence to global youth protection standards.

In a move to reinforce athlete welfare and competitive integrity, the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) has introduced new age eligibility regulations for all FITEQ-sanctioned events, effective from 1 May 2025. The updated rules establish clear age thresholds for participation, particularly for youth and championship-level competitions, aligning with international standards for athlete development and safety.

Key Age Eligibility Rules

Minimum Age Requirement:
Athletes must be at least 14 years old on or before the first official day of any FITEQ event (e.g., Tier VI–IV events, Teqball Tour, World Series, Youth competitions).

World Teqball Championships:
Athletes must turn 16 years old within the calendar year of the competition (e.g., born in 2009 or earlier for the 2025 Championships).

Under 19 (U19) Category/ Tier VI.:
Athletes must be born in or after 2006 to compete in U19 events in 2025. Anyone turning 20 during the competition year is not eligible.
