Nigerian Teqball Federation delegation visits FITEQ Headquarters to discuss development plans in Nigeria and Africa
The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) welcomed a delegation from the Nigerian Teqball Federation to its headquarters on 16 March 2026. The visit was led by Mr. Ndudi Edede, Vice President of the Nigerian Teqball Federation, who held official meetings with Mr. László Vajda, Secretary General of FITEQ, and Ms. Réka Reichard, Head of International and National Federation Relations.
During the meeting, Mr. Edede conveyed the special personal greetings of Mr. Habu Gumel, President of the Nigerian Teqball Federation, and provided an overview of the federation’s ongoing projects and long-term development plans aimed at strengthening the presence of Teqball across Nigeria.
Particular emphasis was placed on the significant support received from the Government of Abia State, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State, whose administration provided full funding for the organisation of the 2024 World Teqball Championship Qualifiers in Nigeria, the upcoming 1st National Teqball League, as well as the purchase and installation of Teqball tables for secondary schools and community sports facilities across the state.
These initiatives were facilitated by Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development of Abia State, whose contribution has played a key role in the rapid growth of the sport in the region.
Projects presented by the Nigerian Teqball Federation confirmed that Abia State currently stands as the leading state in the development of Teqball in Nigeria, serving as a model for other states and corporate organisations to follow. The International Teqball Federation welcomed these efforts and expressed its encouragement for similar initiatives across the country.
FITEQ also highlighted the importance of continuing this momentum by organising international, continental and African regional Teqball competitions in Nigeria, alongside educational programmes aimed at supporting the long-term development of athletes, coaches and officials.
The meeting further addressed the wide range of opportunities Teqball offers for Nigeria and the African continent, including the potential establishment of a future African Teqball Confederation, which could play a key role in coordinating regional development and strengthening the sport’s presence across Africa.
FITEQ expressed its appreciation for the commitment shown by the Nigerian Teqball Federation and reaffirmed its readiness to support the federation’s strategic initiatives in order to ensure the continued growth of Teqball in Nigeria and throughout the African region.
László Vajda, Secretary General emphasized that ’FITEQ also confirms that such personal exchanges greatly advance the development of the sport globally and our federation is always open to receive NF representatives for in-person discussions in FITEQ Headquarters in Budapest.’
