National Teqball Championship Brings Côte d’Ivoire’s Best to Yamoussoukro

The 2026 national Teqball championship in Côte d’Ivoire brought together athletes from across the country for two days of competition in Yamoussoukro on 6–7 August.

Held at the gymnasium of the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the championship welcomed teams representing regional leagues from Abidjan, Dabou, Divo, Daloa, Oumé, Man, Toumodi and Yamoussoukro, highlighting the continued development and growing geographical reach of Teqball across Côte d’Ivoire.

Competition was held across all five official categories, with 16 entries in Men’s Singles, nine in Women’s Singles, 12 teams in Men’s Doubles, six teams in Women’s Doubles and eight teams in Mixed Doubles. Over the course of the two-day event, approximately 74 matches were played to determine the national champions.

In Men’s Singles, Ibrahim Traoré (CIV) emerged victorious to claim the national title. Traoré later added another gold medal to his campaign in the Mixed Doubles category, partnering Maimouna Coulibaly (CIV).

Coulibaly enjoyed an equally successful championship. After securing the Women’s Singles title, she joined forces with Marie Aka (CIV) to triumph in Women’s Doubles before completing an impressive three-title campaign alongside Traoré in Mixed Doubles.

In Men’s Doubles, Hermann Kouassi (CIV) and Sylla (CIV) produced the winning performance to secure the national championship title.

The five championship titles were therefore claimed by Traoré in Men’s Singles, Coulibaly in Women’s Singles, Kouassi and Sylla in Men’s Doubles, Coulibaly and Aka in Women’s Doubles, and Traoré and Coulibaly in Mixed Doubles.

The event in Yamoussoukro provided another important competitive opportunity for Ivorian athletes and demonstrated the expanding domestic structure of Teqball in the country. With athletes representing regional leagues from different parts of Côte d’Ivoire, the championship reflected the ongoing efforts to strengthen the sport at national and regional level.

FITEQ congratulates all champions, participants and organisers on the successful staging of the 2026 national championship and looks forward to the continued development of Teqball across Côte d’Ivoire.
