Adriatic Teqball League enters its third season
The Adriatic Teqball League will officially begin its third season in 2026, continuing its structured development as one of the most important regional initiatives within the international Teqball ecosystem.
When the Adriatic Teqball League (ATL) was launched in 2023, it began modestly, with a limited number of teams from the Balkans representing only a few neighbouring countries. The original concept was clear: to create a regional urban sports platform where Teqball could be played in iconic city locations, bringing athletes and fans together in accessible, high-visibility environments.
Even in its debut year, ATL quickly demonstrated its potential. The league hosted five tournaments across five countries, awarded a €10,000 prize fund, and welcomed more than 25,000 visitors, establishing a strong foundation for future growth.
In 2024, the league took its first steps beyond the Adriatic region. The introduction of a wild card system enabled delegations from outside the region to participate, adding international diversity and raising the overall competitive standard. With the arrival of stronger players, ATL began to position itself not only as a regional tour, but as a gateway to the global Teqball scene.
By 2025, the Adriatic Teqball League had fully evolved into an international competition of the highest level. Events such as Bar and Sarajevo attracted players from 15 different countries, including several of the world’s leading athletes. For the first time, ATL tournaments awarded official FITEQ World Ranking points, transforming league stops into must-attend events for elite competitors. Depending on the location, it became common to see players ranked from world No.1 to top 10 competing in front of full stands.
In just three years, the Adriatic Teqball League has grown from a regional initiative into a globally relevant tour, recognised as a bridge between local communities and the international Teqball movement. Today, ATL represents a key strategic development platform for FITEQ, activating players within the region while strengthening the sport’s visibility and long-term sustainability.
The 2026 season will continue this trajectory with a series of international tournaments hosted across the Adriatic region:
· 16 May – Herceg Novi
· 13 June – Ohrid
· 11 July – Žabljak
· 15 August – Sarajevo
· One additional tournament – to be confirmed
In line with FITEQ’s broader strategic priorities, the 2026 season will also place increased emphasis on sustainability. The Žabljak and Sarajevo tournaments will implement green event principles and environmentally responsible event organisation. These initiatives will be delivered as part of the “Explore More with Teqball” project and will include bike tours and community-based activities for players, visitors, and spectators.
Through its third season, the Adriatic Teqball League continues to serve as a cornerstone of FITEQ’s regional development strategy, contributing to player activation, audience growth, and the sustainable international expansion of Teqball.
