TEQ Sri Lanka

Teqball is the fastest growing sport in the world and it is internationally governed by Fédération Internationale de Teqball – FITEQ. The international federation was established in March 2017 and its headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland and Budapest, Hungary. The FITEQ takes the below primary responsibilities to develop teqball in the globe:

a)     government and management of teqball at the international level;

b)    the codification of the official rules and regulations of teqball;

c)     supporting the establishment of national federations;

d)    education and development of athletes, coaches and technical officials;

e)     sanctioning national and international competitions and events;

f)     establishing and maintaining world-ranking statistics.

Establishment of TEQ Sri Lanka

The Teqball Federation of Sri Lanka (TEQ SL) was successfully established at its inaugural meeting held on 05 December 2018 and its first Annual General Meeting was held on 26 December 2019 at Olympic House, National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka. Our vision is ‘Vision - Teqball for All’ so as to provide everyone in the nation without any discrimination in regard to gender, age, and knowledge level. Our slogan is ‘Proud to be Teqlankan!’ for the promotion and development of Teqball around Sri Lanka. The logo colour of the TEQSL shall be blue, orange, and white. 

The TEQ SL is recognized as a co-opted member by the NOC Sri Lanka on 24 January 2020. Also, TEQ Sri Lanka is recognised as one of the National Sport Federations in Sri Lanka by the Ministry of Sports.

The TEQ SL is established with the following objectives:

a)     To encourage, promote, develop and control the sports - Teqball in Sri Lanka

b)    To acquire by all lawful means, movable and immovable property and to apply both capital and income thereof, for or towards all or any of the objectives of the TEQSL

c)     To formulate and enforce laws governing Teqball in Sri Lanka, and generally to be guided by such definitions as are laid down by the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ)

d)    Generally, to do all such other acts and things as may seem to the TEQSL to be convenient and/or conducive to the carrying out of the objects of the TEQSL

Since Teqball can be easily practised by anyone and anywhere and it’s a fun sport, easy to learn regardless of gender, age, and knowledge level, teqball can be practice indoors and outdoors. Specifically, public places, hotels, parks, schools, families in homes, football clubs, leisure centres, fitness centres, beaches and people with disabilities also can enjoy teqball.

TEQ SL has already established more than 20 clubs around Sri Lanka and produced 30 plus both coaches and referees certified by the FITEQ as Level C. Also, TEQ SL is very much interested in doing CSR projects and in this regard two tables were donated; one for the children who were badly affected by the Sri Lanka Civil war and Tsunami; and the other one is only for female players under the women empowerment project.
