The teqball family showed its support for the Hungarian Paralympic Day today (22 February) with a series of para teqball activities in Budapest, the home of the sport and the headquarters of the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ).

Para teqball was officially launched by FITEQ on 22 March 2021 and will celebrate its one year anniversary next month. The development of para teqball was supported by the Hungarian Paralympic Committee (HPC) following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2020.

Today, over 350 children at a school in Fót, a town on the outskirts of Budapest, attended a para teqball demonstration event. Hungary’s leading para teqball athletes showcased the world’s newest parasport and spoke about the opportunties for young athletes to get involved.

FITEQ President Gábor Borsányi said, “We are delighted to support the HPC on Hungarian Paralympic Day and show FITEQ’s commitment to making sport an inclusive environment. The HPC has played a key role in para teqball’s development and its global growth over the past few years. We are grateful to them and to all our other partners for helping FITEQ make teqball and para teqball open to all.”

Para teqball is growing every day, with promotional demonstrations scheduled across Europe and Africa in the coming weeks, including at the Paris World Series next month. FITEQ is also planning additional official para teqball events following the successful Budapest Teqball and Para Teqball Cup in October last year.
