A teqball competition will be held on the final two days of the Mediterranean Games 2022 (4-5 July), featuring four of the leading teqball countries: Algeria, France, Tunisia, and Portugal. A delegation from FITEQ will be present, led by FITEQ General Secretary Marius Vizer Jr.

France will be represented by Julien Grondin and Hugo Rabeux, who are ranked 9th in the men’s doubles World Ranking. The pair reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 Teqball World. Tunisia’s team is Youssef Sahli and Yassine Sahli, who is ranked 10th in the men’s singles World Ranking. Portugal’s pairing will be number 42 ranked doubles team Joao Pinheiro and Antonio Henriques. whilst Algeria will be represented by Rochdi Latreche and Mekki Hamza, who were entered due to their impressive doubles victories at the national qualifying tournament.

As a demonstration sport at the cross-continental multisport event, FITEQ continues its impressive growth in the Mediterranean region and globally. To support this effort, Portuguese Teqball Federation Referee Coordinator Telmo Monteiro is currently in Algeria leading educational programmes, which he will continue throughout the event.

Teqball is a medal sport at the European Games 2023 and the Sanya Asian Beach Games, as well as a demonstration sport at many cross-continental multisport events, showcasing teqball’s impressive growth worldwide, with 145 national federations globally.
