FITEQ is delighted to confirm its participation in the 2020 United Through Sports (UTS) International Virtual Youth Festival, an event that will bring over 60 organisations together for a global celebration of sport.

The event is being held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Special Olympics, SportAccord and the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). UTS was founded by the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) as way to use sport to inspire future generations.

The first Virtual Youth Festival is aiming to increase youth participation in sport and will feature a series of online discussions, webinars and educational programmes, before a hybrid online and in-person event is held in Thailand to coincide with the UN World Children’s Day on 20 November. Topics of focus at the festival include peace through sport, inclusion and non-discrimination, athletes’ roles and responsibilities and child and athlete safeguarding.

FITEQ General Secretary Marius Vizer Jr said:

“Teqball is a sport for all ages, but in the past few years we have increasingly seen that our core audience is young people. The dynamism and fast-paced nature of the sport lends perfectly to athletes in their late teens and twenties, many of whom have learnt about and fallen in love with teqball through watching the sport on our engaging digital channels. We are thrilled to be a part of the UTS Festival and help promote the importance of educating future generations about how sport can break down barriers and be a tool for positive change.”
