Plock hosts first-ever Polish Beach Teqball Championships

At the end of July, the city of Plock became the teqball capital of Poland when it hosted the inaugural Polish Beach Teqball Championships.

At the end of July, the city of Płock became the teqball capital of Poland when it hosted the inaugural Polish Beach Teqball Championships. The event was presided over by the President of the Polish Teqball Association, Michał Listkiewicz, and the President of the Polish Olympic Committee, Andrzej Kraśnicki.

The event attracted famous footballers and many others from the world of sport, who watched the country’s best teqers battle for Polish beach teqball title. The current World Number One in singles, Adrian Duszak (Poland), demonstrated his quality and emerged victorious in the singles competition. During the event, there was also a donation of a TEQ One table, which will be auctioned off for charity.

The event was held in line with COVID-19 regulations, further showcasing how teqball is a social distancing sport. The event organisers implemented several key safety measures, including the use of disinfectants on the court, mandatory wearing of masks for security and staff, and disinfecting showers for players and referees.

Elsewhere in Poland, the town of Podkowa Leśna is fast becoming a base for the country’s best teqball players. Located near the capital city of Warsaw, the Podkowa Teqball Club is home to World Number One Duszak, as well as several over world class players and emerging talents. Podkowa Teqball Club is also very proficient on the organisational side, and welcomed players and referees from ten countries last year, who travelled to the town for an international training camp.

The COVID-19 pandemic unavoidably delayed progress earlier this year, but the passion for teqball in Poland remains and the country’s teqball journey is beginning to build momentum once again.
