FITEQ hosted successful Teqball training camp in Vietnam
After the World Teqball Championships 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, the FITEQ–Vietnamese partnership strengthens international sporting ties and athlete development.
FITEQ recently delivered a highly successful international training camp in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as part of its global initiative to support elite-level preparation for athletes and referees. The event was organised with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, under the sport diplomacy programme, within the framework of the project titled “the 75th jubilee Hungarian-Vietnamese diplomacy connection” and the Local Organising Committee, including Saigon Sports, Hoa Lu Sports and Physical Training Center.
The training camp was made possible thanks to the close cooperation and backing of the Hungarian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, which played a pivotal role in bringing this international sports diplomacy initiative to fruition. FITEQ experts led the programme: the athlete Pornthep Wapisiri from Thailand and the Hungarian Milan Szabo, who delivered a wide range of development-focused sessions and technical drills tailored to the needs of local athletes and coaches.
"Vietnamese Teqball has developed a lot since the world champs last year," highlighted Wapisiri. He emphasised that the athletes are eager to learn and very determined.
Participants welcomed the camp’s practical and high-level content. Coach Lê Quang Khang noted that the international expert introduced top-quality offensive drills that were both practical and inspiring, adding that the athletes were genuinely excited and engaged throughout the sessions. Coach Võ Minh Hiếu Thuận was equally impressed by the coordination drills, which drew upon multiple training philosophies and helped the athletes respond with flexibility and adapt quickly in real-game scenarios.
Coach Lê Thanh Tùng commended the warm-up and stretching routines presented during the camp, describing them as simple yet extremely effective. He highlighted their value in both injury prevention and performance enhancement, stating that they provide a solid foundation for high-level training. Athlete Nguyễn Thị Thu Hoài reflected on the intensity of the training, sharing that many of the drills pushed her beyond her limits. Although challenging, she felt that the experience was essential for her personal growth, and adapting to these exercises helped her better understand the level she needed to reach.
The Ho Chi Minh City training camp represents a significant step in FITEQ’s mission to promote Teqball through international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and athlete development. It also stands as a testament to the strength of the Hungarian–Vietnamese partnership and the role of sport diplomacy in building bridges between nations.
