ATL - Adriatic Teqball League is ready to return

New wild card system and one more category will be introduced in ATL's 2024 season.

After the Adriatic Teqball League debuted in 2023 and went through five countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, the tournament moves forward with new features in 2024.

In 2023, not only FITEQ organized a record number of events, but a brand new series started its path. The Adriatic Teqball League - led by Mr. Milorad Sutulovic, President of Teqball Montenegro and his team - was a huge success at each of the five events, as more than 25.000 spectators experienced the "World is Curved". The season started in Bar, Montenegro, then the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sarajevo followed. Serbia joined as Zlatibor was the third stop while the summer ended in Zadar, Croatia. The final rendezvous was held in Skopje, North Macedonia where FITEQ started 2023 with the European Teqball Tour. Team TEQ Liman team from Serbia and its representatives, three-time world champions Bogdan Marojević and Nikola Mitro stayed unbeaten and won the very first feature of the Adriatic Teqball League.

"We are very excited about the upcoming season. Alongside Montenegro Teqball League's summer tour, we will organize it's winter tour to start the season earlier. ATL will also see changes as compared to last year, we will expand the league by introducing wild cards - at every ATL tournament, we will host a delegation from a country outside of the ATL's nations." highlighted Mr. Sutulovic.

The winter tour of MTL 2024 starts soon in the capital, Podgorica on February 24, then continues in Herceg Novi on the last Saturday of March and ends in Bijelo Polje on April 27. The summer tour starts in Ulcinj on May 25. The events of the Adriatic Teqball League will be announced soon.

The number of participants will also rise as a new category will be introduced.

"Along with men's doubles, we will include women Teqball players, by organizing competitions in Mixed Doubles too. Last year we had 50 teams competing in the ATL. With the wild cards and the additional category, we expect this number to be doubled in 2024." said enthusiastically the President of Teqball Montenegro.

However, ATL is not only about organizing events for the best players in the area but also spreading the word about Teqball and finding new athletes, referees, and clubs. Teqball table giveaways, exhibition matches, open practices, programs for spectators and the list goes on.

"Our first activity in 2024 is the ATL webinar for Teqball referees, hosted by international referees Saša Potpara from Montenegro and Milan Končar, Serbia. We are also glad to announce that the first phase of the "Teqball in Schools" project will be implemented in the Q4 of 2024."  finishes the sports leader.

Marko Zarkovic is currently the highest-ranked Montenegrin in men's doubles. He won the MTL's last two seasons and finished as runner-up in the Adriatic Teqball League in 2023.

"By winning the domestic championships, I could compete both in Nuremberg, in Krakow at the European champs, and just recently in Bangkok." he says. "We also traveled all around the region and played in all ATL tournaments. Most importantly, we met a lot of great people along the way and I am truly excited for what this year brings us.” closes the 34-year-old teqer.
