The I. Teq Festival brings tight clashes

After a quick stop in Los Angeles, Teqball’s elite moves back to Europe to face off in Esztergom.

After a quick stop in Los Angeles, Teqball’s elite moves back to Europe to face off in Esztergom. One month after the highly successful European Games, which attracted a total of 75,000 spectators, the continent's best players will compete in Hungary, including world leaders, world champions, and the sport’s first European champions.

A total of 82 players from 8 countries in three categories (women's, men's and mixed doubles) will participate in the 1st Teq Festival, which will be held on the banks of the Danube, in the shadow of the well-known basilica.

Two pairs stand out from the women's field, the same two teams that also clashed in the European Championship finals in Krakow. Lea Vasas and Zsanett Janicsek then beat Kinga Barabasi and Katalin Dako from Romania 2:1, and Vasas (who also won a gold medal in mixed doubles) since then claim to be the only two-time World and European champion of Teqball. It is no coincidence that the doubles ranking starts with their name, but Barabasi (7th) and Dako (11th) can also be found in the top ranks.

We must not forget the pair of Krisztina Acs and Gabriella Kota, who won the Teqball Tour event in Budapest last September, and Nora Vicsek and Petra Pechy were triumphant in Madrid this year by defeating Vasas&Janicsek in the semi-finals and Barabasi&Dako in the final.

We will also see the French ace, Amelie Julian, who occupies the 4th position in the individual world rankings, she will team up with Zsofia Dezsenyi in Esztergom. We cannot underestimate the duo of Anastasija Lemajic and Maja Umicevic from Serbia, and the youngest duo, 18-year-old Krisztina Pasztor and 16-year-old Boglarka Simo also want to cause a surprise.

The men's competition also promises to be extremely strong, World and now European champion Csaba Banyik believes that even the group stage will bring highly competitive matches with potential upsets. Unbeaten in international tournaments for 11 months, he and Balázs Katz defeated the world champion and WR leader Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojevic in the European championship finals, but they now have a chance to take revenge in Esztergom.

World champion Adam Blazsovics will show up this time with Martin Csereklye, Adam Bako teams up with former national hockey player Matyas Odnoga, and the Romanian individual World and European champion Apor Gyorgydeak will be in the field, who will come to Esztergom with his compatriot and permanent partner Szabolcs Ilyes.

And we still have not mentioned the Frenchman Hugo Rabeux, who is in the top 10 of all world rankings, his partner will be Barna Kovacsfi, they also should be considered as contenders.

Among the mixed doubles, we can already find more changes compared to Kraków. Vasas and Katz, who won gold there, share their power in Esztergom: the former participates alongside Adam Bako, while Katz with Gabriella Kota. The Serbians Lemajic&Marojevic and Umicevic&Mitro will start in division, the latter unit was able to return home from the European Championships with a silver medal. Csaba Banyik takes on the challenge with Krisztina Acs, Martin Csereklye with Zsanett Janicsek, Matyas Odnoga with Nora Vicsek, Adam Blazsovics with Petra Pechy, and Apor Gyorgydeak with Tunde Miklas will try to achieve the best result possible, but the twosome of Julian&Rabeux will also definitely come to Hungary for a medal.

In addition to Teqball, Teqvoly will also be on the table, the finals of both sports will be shown live on Hungarian Sport TV & on Teq TV on Youtube.
