Beijing is burning in Teqball fever

Last week, Beijing orgnised two Teqball events preparing for the international challenges.

From August 6th to 7th, the 2025 National Teqball Championship was successfully held at the Figure Skating Hall in Shougang Park, Beijing. The event was co-organized by the Leisure Sports Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the People’s Government of Shijingshan District, Beijing, and hosted by the Beijing Leisure Sports Administrative Center, the Beijing Teqball Association, and the Shijingshan District Sports Bureau.

The championship featured two major age categories — youth and adult — with five competitive disciplines: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. More than 100 athletes from across China participated, representing regions such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Fujian, Jiangxi, Sichuan, and more.

The youth category showcased the speed, reaction time, and tactical creativity of young players. Standout performances included Mao Zheming winning the men’s singles, Jiang Xinyan taking the women’s singles title, Li Junlin and Zhang Zhiang claiming the men’s doubles, Jiang Xinyan and Chen Jiayi securing the women’s doubles, and Luan Shaoxuan with Zhang Qi Zheng Yue triumphing in the mixed doubles.

In the adult open category, experienced players demonstrated precise ball control, strategic play, and powerful smashes that thrilled spectators. Sun Zhixu emerged as the men’s singles champion, Cui Yazhen claimed the women’s singles title, Zhang Junming and Sun Zhixu paired up to win the men’s doubles, Shi Huhong and Yang Yimeng won the women’s doubles, and the mixed doubles victory went to Zhang Junming and Gong Fulei.

From August 9th to 10th, the 2025 Beijing Teqball Challenge and Beijing Qualifying Tournament for the Teqball World Series took place at the National Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. Hosted by the Beijing Olympic City Development Promotion Association, the competition featured men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles, with 66 teams from Beijing, Shandong, Fujian, Sichuan, and other regions competing. Champions included Sun Zhixu in men’s singles, Zhang Junming and Sun Zhixu in men’s doubles, and Zhang Junming and Gong Fulei in mixed doubles.

As a result of the National Teqball Championship, the youth champions will form China’s national Teqball training team for the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, marking a seamless transition from national competition to the international stage.

Looking ahead, the Leisure Sports Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China plans to further promote the integration of national fitness and public health. By continuing to support and popularize emerging sports such as Teqball, it aims to enhance the national fitness public service system and encourage more people to engage in active, healthy lifestyles.
