Pakistan’s teqball community celebrated the diamond jubilee of the country’s independence with a Teqball Championships in the Peshawar District, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The event took place from 11-14 August, culminating on the country’s 75th Independence Day.

The event was organised by the Pakistan Teqball Federation in collaboration with the Directorate General of Sports for the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Absar Welfare Foundation, a sporting non-profit working to empower youth, women and people living with a disability.

Around 30 male players and 25 female players took park in the tournament, which celebrated sport and its role in the community. The event was closed with an inspirational speech from President of the Pakistan Teqball Federation Mian Absar Ali, and a ribbon cutting ceremony with 75 ribbons cut to celebrate 75 years of independence.

All players received official Pakistan National Teqball Academy kit to ensure they had a lasting memory of the day. FITEQ would like to congratulate President Mian Absar Ali, as well Wajahat Ali, Vice President of the Pakistan Teqball Federation, Jaffar Shah, administrator for the Federation; and Mr Rahat Mian, Chairman of the Absar Welfare Foundation, for their efforts in organising the successful event.

Pakistan’s passion for teqball continues to grow and FITEQ looks forward to continued growth across the country.
