The Teqball Tour in Si Racha, Thailand, held from 23–25 October 2026, provided another platform for strengthening cooperation between FITEQ and Thai sports leaders.

 

Dr Thana Chaiprasit, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand and Vice President of the Sepak Takraw Association of Thailand, attended the event and watched the matches alongside FITEQ Secretary General László Vajda. Elected to his Olympic committee role in March 2025, Dr Chaiprasit brings extensive experience of over 35 years and strong relationships across Thai sport.

 

Drawing on their longstanding personal friendship, the two officials discussed Teqball’s rapid development in Thailand and opportunities to support its continued growth. Major General Piyapat Jarunpong, President of the Teqball Association of Thailand, also participated in the discussions, bringing the national association’s priorities into the conversation.

 

Dr Chaiprasit’s leadership of the Sepak Takraw Association provided a valuable foundation for exploring an ever widening cooperation between the two sports. The officials discussed and confirmed broad cooperation and support for the Teqball Association of Thailand, recognising the potential to build on the country’s established sepak takraw expertise and the skills shared by both sporting communities.

 

Thailand’s achievements at the Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games provided a significant backdrop to the meeting. The country finished seventh in the overall medal table and first among ASEAN nations, winning 52 medals. Thailand fielded 694 athletes with gold medals coming from 12 sports. Its 18 golds marked Thailand’s highest gold-medal haul at an overseas Asian Games and its second-highest overall, behind the Bangkok 1998 home Games.

 

Teqball made a particularly strong contribution, delivering three gold medals to rank jointly with athletics as Thailand’s most successful sport by gold-medal count. Thailand won the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles titles, securing three of the five gold medals available during Teqball’s Asian Games debut and topping the sport’s medal table. The meeting in Si Racha reinforced a shared commitment to turn that success into continued development.
