Outstanding Atmosphere and Elite Competition at Challenger Teqball League Băile Homorod
The Romanian town of Băile Homorod once again demonstrated why it is becoming one of the most unique destinations on the international Teqball calendar, as it hosted another successful stage of the Challenger Teqball League on 6–7 June.
Surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, the event provided a remarkable setting for two days of high-level competition, attracting top international athletes and earning widespread praise from participants. Beyond the results themselves, the tournament offered a memorable experience for players, teams and spectators alike, while continuing to promote the growth of Teqball both locally and internationally.
At the conclusion of the event, organizer Szabolcs Ilyes (ROU) expressed his satisfaction with the tournament.
"We were able to organize a tournament in a unique place, in a magical environment. There were high-quality matches and the promotion of the sport was successful. Everyone left satisfied and several people asked for more tournaments at this location. We are happy after the tournament and thank those who came," he said.
The venue received particularly positive feedback from the athletes, many of whom described it as one of the most impressive locations they have experienced on the international circuit.
Among them was Nikola Mitro (SRB), who was full of praise for the surroundings.
"The location where the entire tournament was played was absolutely beautiful. Although we stayed in a different place, the competition venue itself was stunning, almost like something out of a movie," he stated.
Mitro and Orlowski Shine in Men's Doubles
The Men's Doubles competition produced one of the biggest stories of the weekend as Nikola Mitro (SRB) and Stefan Orlowski (POL) captured the title with an outstanding performance.
The pair entered the tournament in strong form but were not considered the favorites against the experienced partnership of Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) and Marek Pokwap (POL), who had won their previous meetings comfortably. However, in Băile Homorod, Mitro and Orlowski produced their best performance together, displaying consistency, defensive solidity and tactical discipline throughout the competition.
Reflecting on their success, Mitro highlighted the chemistry between the pair.
"I somehow expected us to perform better than we did in Szekelyudvarhely and Madeira, especially defensively, and once that part of our game clicked, everything else fell into place, including the results. It is truly a pleasure to play with Stefan Orlowski. Whenever Bogdan is not attending tournaments, it somehow works out for us to compete together and remain competitive. He is a young man who represents the future of the sport, but above all, he is a well-mannered and humble person, and it is a pleasure to share the court with him."
The Romanian venue proved to be a lucky charm for the winning duo, combining Mitro's experience and competitive maturity with Orlowski's youthful fearlessness and immense potential.
The Serbian athlete also spoke about an exciting new chapter in his personal life, having recently announced that he will become a father for the first time.
"The new role that awaits me will certainly be interesting and will be a challenge in this new chapter of life. I am incredibly excited to become a father. It is something special. Of course, I will do my best to remain at a high physical and psychological level and to stay among the top players in this sport," he added.
Home Success for Barabasi and Gyorgydeak
In Mixed Doubles, reigning World Champions Kinga Barabasi (ROU) and Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) - Gobek Teqball Team duo successfully defended home pride by securing another international title in front of their supporters.
Their opponents in the final were Zsofia Dezsenyi (HUN) and Nikola Mitro (SRB), who produced an excellent tournament and pushed the favorites throughout a highly competitive match filled with long rallies and spectacular exchanges.
Despite the determined challenge from the Hungarian-Serbian pair, the experience, chemistry and offensive firepower of Barabasi and Gyorgydeak ultimately proved decisive as they claimed the title.
The victory once again demonstrated why the Romanian partnership remains one of the strongest and most consistent pairs in international Teqball.
Barabasi Triumphs in Women's Singles Open
Alongside the Challenger Teqball League competition, a Women's Singles Teqball Open was also organized, featuring a high-quality final between Kinga Barabasi (ROU) and Zsofia Dezsenyi (HUN).
Competing on home soil, Barabasi delivered a composed performance and made the most of the support from the local crowd to secure the title.
While Dezsenyi once again showcased the talent and technical quality that have established her as one of the most promising players in women's Teqball, Barabasi proved more efficient during the key moments and deservedly claimed the trophy.
Pokwap Continues Winning Form in Men's Singles
The Men's Singles category belonged to Marek Pokwap (POL), who once again confirmed his status as one of the leading figures in international Teqball.
In the final, the Polish player faced rising Hungarian star Milan Csabi (HUN), whose rapid development continues to attract attention across the sport.
The match featured two powerful athletes capable of producing fast-paced and spectacular rallies. However, Pokwap's experience and technical precision allowed him to control the crucial moments and ultimately secure another Challenger Teqball League title.
Although he fell short in the final, Csabi delivered another impressive performance, reinforcing his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in world of Teqball.
